Mandy Hansen Joins HDR as Pediatrics Director
Mandy Hansen has joined HDR’s global healthcare architecture and design practice as its director of pediatrics. Based in HDR’s Seattle architecture studio, Hansen will collaborate with multidisciplinary, integrated design teams across the globe to help shape the future of pediatric healthcare.
Bringing 20 years of pediatric healthcare leadership experience and an owner-side perspective to her new role, Hansen most recently led complex healthcare capital programs and transformative projects for Seattle Children’s Hospital. She supported large-scale healthcare and academic medical center initiatives across planning, design, construction, activation and stakeholder alignment and brings a deep understanding of how clinical, operational and design priorities support patients, families and care teams in pediatric care environments.
“Throughout my career, I've seen the profound impact the built environment has on the healthcare experience,” Mandy said. “HDR's pediatrics team brings an incredible depth of expertise across the full spectrum of pediatric healthcare. I'm excited to partner with clients to create forward-thinking care spaces that help children, families and communities around the world thrive.”
Working across disciplines and with subject matter experts to advance HDR’s pediatric healthcare design practice, Hansen brings hands-on project leadership, strategic problem-solving and thought leadership informed by her lived experience and understanding of design’s influence in healing environments for children and families. She will grow multidisciplinary teams, lead projects, engage with industry leaders, children’s hospitals and other pediatric healthcare providers to support HDR’s pediatric healthcare design practice.
“Mandy's perspective is incredibly valuable to our practice because she has spent her career navigating the same complex decisions our pediatrics clients face every day,” said Jacqueline Foy, global health director at HDR. “That experience will strengthen how we partner with health systems to create environments today and challenge and envision the possibilities that can elevate care into the future. She will encourage us all to imagine a place that fully supports healthier children, families and communities for years to come.”
Active in Washington’s healthcare design community, Hansen serves as vice president of the board of directors of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals Pacific Northwest Chapter and helps advance regional collaboration and thought leadership in healthcare facility strategy, capital planning and design innovation.
