Mark Fuhrmann
Senior Program Manager, Transit
“I have worked in the public sector for many years and have seen the value we can bring to support our clients on these highly complex public transit infrastructure investments. My position enables me to provide these critical services to project sponsors who are investing hundreds of millions to improve mobility and access to opportunity for generations to come.”
As our senior program manager for the $3.2 billion Utah FrontRunner Commuter Rail Double Track Program, Mark leads our efforts to help the Utah Department of Transportation double train frequency along the 83-mile corridor. He also oversees program management for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District's West Lake and Double Track projects, coordinating resources and reporting progress to the Federal Transit Administration and funding partners to support successful delivery.
With more than 30 years of experience, Mark’s passion for collaborating on many different kinds of projects is evidenced by his diverse portfolio. From alternatives analysis to financial plans to construction, he has a proven record of managing and delivering successful and transformative passenger rail projects.
Mark previously served as Minneapolis’ Metro Transit deputy general manager and program director, leading five New Starts projects, two light rail lines and the Northstar Commuter Line, as well as two light-rail transit extensions. His most recent New Start rail project was the METRO Green Line LRT, with HDR providing critical consultant services.
Mark also served ten years on the National Sciences Foundation Transit Cooperative Research Program Panel, participated in the FTA delegation to five Central and Eastern Europe urban transport authorities, and was named Minnesota Public Transportation's 2014 Transit Professional of the Year.
