The "Balanced Net-Zero Pathway" set out in the Climate Change Committee's Sixth Carbon Budget report, estimates that around 20% of heat in buildings could be provided from heat networks between 2030 and 2050. The optimization of heat interface units used in those networks must be encouraged in order for these targets to be achieved.

HDR's Jairo Jaramillo, associate mechanical engineer, participated in a roundtable discussion, hosted by CIBSE. Conversations on how heat interface units can lower the carbon emissions of networks, encourage greater operating efficiencies for operators and benefit end users, compared with counterfactual technology took place amongst industry leaders. Jairo also explored the unifying support for an improvement in the commissioning of heat interface units.

It should be noted that the Climate Change Committee is an independent non-departmental public body. This organisation was formed under the Climate Change Act to advise the U.K. and devolved U.K. governments and parliaments.
