HDR Rises To No. 5 Among Top Design Firms

HDR has moved into the Top 5 of design firms, according to the Engineering News-Record annual rankings.

This is the highest place the engineering and architectural company has reached since first appearing on the list in the 1960s. Standings are based on company annual revenue. HDR’s 2021 design revenue was reported at $2.5 billion.

“We’re excited to be No. 5 on ENR's Top 500 Design Firm list,” said Eric Keen, HDR chairman and CEO. “Our success is a direct result of our employee-owners' commitment to long-term, sustainable growth in support of our clients and communities around the world.”

ENR has also announced specified market and sector rankings. HDR secured these Top 10 spots:

  • Pure Designers: No. 3
  • Transportation: No. 5
  • Water: No. 5
  • General Building: No. 6
  • Sewer and Waste: No. 6
  • Designers in International Markets: No. 7
  • Telecommunications: No. 10

More ENR rankings will be included in a sourcebook released in July and throughout the year.
