Tim Winstead Joins HDR as Education & Science Principal in Raleigh Office

Tim Winstead, AIA, LEED AP, has joined HDR as principal for the education and science sector in the East region of the United States.

Based in HDR’s Raleigh, North Carolina, studio, Winstead will establish and guide the overall direction of the education and science sector in the office and local region through strategic planning, business development, building client relationships, leading pursuits and directing project teams. Winstead comes to HDR from Ewing Cole, where he was a regional director.

“We are very excited to have Tim join our team and look forward to his leadership and insight as we continue to build our program,” said Kevin Jelinek, HDR's education and science director in the East region. “His client relationships and reputation throughout the industry will greatly help us drive to expand our client base.”

With over 30 years of experience on a diverse array of higher education, corporate, healthcare and office projects, Winstead brings expert guidance to the Raleigh office. He has worked on projects with major universities, including Duke University, MIT, North Carolina State University, University of Chicago, University of Connecticut, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Yale University and others. On the corporate side, he has worked with companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Abbott,  DuPont and Novartis.

"I’m glad to come on board and help establish an architecture presence in Raleigh,” Winstead said. “I’m also looking forward to collaborating with my colleagues globally. HDR will allow me access to some new and exciting opportunities.”

Along with project work, Winstead's writing has appeared in many industry publications, including Architect and Building Design & Construction. He has also presented at many notable industry events, such as Tradeline and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
