HDR Environmental Justice Professionals LaFata and Nulton to Present in TRB Webinar

HDR’s Cathy LaFata and Diane Nulton will be featured in an Aug. 29 webinar on “Successful Environmental Justice Planning,” hosted by the Transportation Research Board. Topics will include the history of EJ within transportation projects, National Environmental Policy Act, and what it looks like in 2023. Presenters will discuss the impacts of EJ and share successful strategies for addressing EJ and equity and coordinating with the public.

LaFata, HDR’s transportation equity director, will speak about environmental justice efforts for transit and highway projects, drawing from a wealth of real-world experience implementing environmental justice and equity in transportation.

Nulton, a senior environmental project manager with extensive experience in National Environmental Policy Act processes, will moderate the panel.

Carolyn Nelson of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Chad Long of the South Carolina Department of Transportation are joining them.

The webinar begins at 1 p.m. CDT and lasts 90 minutes, with the first 60 minutes reserved for presentations and the last 30 minutes for audience questions.
