Irene Turletes, P.E., a transportation and water resources engineer working in Anchorage, Alaska, has been selected as one of Engineering News-Record's 2024 National Top 20 Under 40. This is the culmination of ENR’s annual Top Young Professionals program, which recognizes outstanding young construction and design professionals in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, specifically highlighting individuals under the age of 40 who represent the industry’s best and the brightest rising stars.

Turletes is an HDR water resources market sector leader with extensive design experience throughout Alaska, including serving as HDR’s project manager for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities' Sterling Highway Milepost 45-60 upgrade, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the state. She also finds time to serve as a board member of Alaska Trails, is a leader for the Anchorage office’s women’s employee network group and wellness committees, and is a graduate from Leadership Anchorage in support of established and emerging Alaskans looking to expand their community impact.

In addition to Turletes, 10 other HDR young professionals were named as ENR regional Top Young Professionals. Honorees were judged on three primary criteria: industry experience and education, career and industry leadership, and community service and involvement.

All winners will be profiled in their respective regional ENR publications in 2024. ENR will also honor Turletes and the new class of winners at the Emerging Leaders Forum in March.
