HDR Foundation Surpasses $14 Million in Grants Since Inception

$2.5 Million Awarded by the Foundation and Global Philanthropic Funds in 2025
The HDR Foundation awarded 25 grants totaling $645,875, surpassing $2.5 million awarded in 2025 by the employee-led foundation and global philanthropic funds in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Since the inception of the HDR Foundation in 2012, over $14 million has been awarded to nonprofit organizations.
Each grant is sponsored by an employee who volunteers with the nonprofit receiving the funds.
“The provision of healthy, fresh foods to local food deserts at lower costs is a commitment my husband and I have dedicated our time and resources to throughout our lives,” said Barbara Reese, principal financial consultant at HDR, who sponsored a grant to GoochlandCares to transform a van into a refrigerated mobile food pantry in central Virginia. “The opportunity to serve GoochlandCares through the HDR Foundation grant process has made me even more proud of our employee-owned company.”
The grants support causes that mirror HDR’s values and areas of expertise, concentrating on three focus areas: education, healthy communities and environmental stewardship.
An education-focused grant will fund improvements to the space outside the Roper Mountain Science Center Butterfly Exhibit in South Carolina.
“Just as a butterfly emerges from its cocoon and takes flight, children who step into the greenhouse discover a world alive with color, movement and possibility,” said Adam Feigl, senior GIS analyst and HDR sponsor of the grant. “Supporting this space means every child can feel their minds flutter with imagination, which stays with them long after their visit.”
A grant sponsored by Amber Robinson, environmental practice lead at HDR, will make a lasting impact with improvements to the restoration headquarters of the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana.
“The work CRCL does for Louisiana’s coast and its people is invaluable,” Robinson said. “I’m so proud to work for a company that recognizes that.”
