HDR's Pamela Esin, associate director, has been recognized in The Women's Engineering Society's (WES) Top 50 Women In Engineering 2025 Award. This accolade celebrates women within the industry who are collaborating, innovating and bringing their array of perspectives to help enhance lives through engineering.

With over 16 years of experience in the building engineering services industry, Esin has led and delivered innovative and sustainable electrical solutions across the aviation, retail, commercial, education, and mission-critical sectors within the U.K., Europe and the Middle East.

She plays a key role within a multidisciplinary tech, media and telecom team, which integrates architecture, structure, electrical and mechanical engineering expertise in its approach to designing sustainable, energy efficient, and resilient data centers for colocation and hyperscale clients.

Located in HDR's London office, she currently provides electrical design leadership for several hyperscale data center projects in the U.K. and Europe whose design optimizes artificial intelligence (AI) workload and utilizes zero water for cooling; by adopting chip-level cooling solutions.

Her technological interests focus on developing and assessing the viability of alternative, innovative and emerging power generation technologies for data centers. These technologies aim to alleviate the strain on electricity grids caused by the increased energy demands resulting from the rapid AI growth.

Most recently, Esin assisted in delivering electrical services design for a new liquid cooled 132 megawatt data center for a major multinational technology conglomerate in Central Europe, working as lead design engineer.

Outside the regular conventions of her role, Esin empowers women in the workplace; drawing from her personal experiences, navigating challenges she has faced in the engineering sector. She is a staunch advocate for women’s support and mentorship, demonstrating leadership rooted in empathy and an understanding of the unique challenges women face.

In addition to her role as mentor and advocate, Esin has served on an engineering scholarship trust interview panel for the past 5 years, shaping the future of engineering through selecting students who will make a lasting impact.

The winners of The WES' Top 50 Women In Engineering 2025 were announced at an afternoon tea ceremony on June 23 at The Lansdown Club, London, in concert with International Women in Engineering Day.
