Omaha RiverFront Revitalization Honored With NAEP Award

HDR’s Omaha RiverFront Revitalization won an Environmental Excellence Award from the National Association of Environmental Professionals. Winning the Environmental Management, Stewardship, Conservation, and/or Protection category, the recognition highlights the project’s emphasis on child play; community connection and asset restoration; regional development; mobility improvements; water and electrical use reductions; environmental preservation; and brownfield remediation.

The project transformed Lewis & Clark Landing, Heartland of America and Gene Leahy Mall into a unified, amenity-rich open space, anchored by the Missouri River's beauty. It is Nebraska’s first Envision project, verified Platinum, by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.

NAEP is an interdisciplinary organization dedicated to developing the highest standards of ethics and proficiency in the environmental professions.

The award was presented during NAEP’s Annual Conference & Training Symposium in Charleston, South Carolina, which attracts environmental professionals from across the country to learn about new projects, share technical knowledge, network with other industry professionals, and engage with leaders in environmental technologies and practice.

HDR is a platinum sponsor for the conference, and many of our environmental experts are in attendance and presenting during the technical sessions.

HDR is well represented on NAEP’s Board of Directors. Mike Mayer is concluding his final year as board president, and will transition to past president. Rona Farley, an active NAEP member since 2003, is currently a past president and will remain on the board.

NAEP’s board also includes HDR representatives Makary Hutson and Chuck Nicholson, while Jenny Bring is the Minnesota chapter representative, Courtney Arena is the Florida chapter representative, and Anna Kohl is the Alaska chapter representative.
