Military Aviation Leader
Matt provides deep aviation and engineering expertise to clients worldwide in his role as military aviation lead. He delivers strategic leadership, project oversight and technical direction for our global military aviation practice, helping clients align mission requirements with resilient, high-performing aviation infrastructure.
A former U.S. Air Force instructor pilot, Matt served for 21 years in active and reserve roles before retiring from military service in 2006. He has more than three decades of specialized airfield engineering experience and has logged more than 4,000 hours as a commercial-rated helicopter and fixed-wing pilot over a 30-year flying career. This unique combination of operational aviation knowledge and engineering expertise enables him to bridge the gap between mission requirements and infrastructure solutions, helping clients plan, design and deliver complex aviation facilities.
Throughout his career, Matt has led the planning, design and delivery of airfield and aviation infrastructure programs across North America, Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific and the Arctic. His experience spans more than 100 military and civilian airfields and includes runway reconstruction, aircraft beddown planning, navigational aid modernization, hangar and apron development, and long-range airfield recapitalization strategies.
Matt is known for integrating operational insight with practical engineering solutions, particularly in challenging and remote environments. Having flown and delivered engineering projects in the Arctic, he understands the unique demands of aviation infrastructure in extreme climates and remote and isolated locations.
Recognized as a subject-matter expert in infrastructure requirements for next-generation aircraft, Matt has supported programs involving the F-35, V-22, P-8, KC-46, and emerging unmanned systems, helping military clients maintain mission readiness while modernizing critical infrastructure. In addition to leading major aviation programs, he is a sought-after speaker on airfield planning, design and construction, regularly sharing lessons learned and industry best practices with government and aviation audiences.
