HDR Canada Fund Awards $132,000 in 2025 Grants
The generosity of HDR’s Canadian employees continues to shine with the announcement of five grants totaling CA$59,900.
Funded and led by Canadian employees, the HDR Canada Fund has now awarded CA$131,900 this year.
Each grant is sponsored by an employee with a passion for the charity receiving the funds.
James Hudyma, HDR senior civil designer, volunteers as a wildlife rescue driver for the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC), which received a grant for new diagnostic equipment to run blood work on injured animals.
“I am very excited to have the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation receive a grant,” Hudyma said. “The medical equipment will make a significant difference in how AIWC diagnoses and treats many of the thousands of animals that pass through their facility each year.”
Grants from the HDR Canada Fund support three focus areas that mirror HDR’s areas of expertise — education, healthy communities and the environment.
Lori-Ann Wilson, HDR area human resources manager, sponsored a grant for a new feed house at The Happy Herd, a farm sanctuary with educational programs and partnerships with mental health organizations.
“This funding empowers me to support The Happy Herd, a sanctuary that holds a special place in my heart in a way that’s more impactful than I ever imagined,” Wilson said. “The generous award will not only enrich the lives of the sanctuary’s beloved residents, but also extend its reach to local community members who benefit from spending time with them.”
Additional grants include funding for unique meal programs for people experiencing homelessness and other challenges, as well as a grant to Rocky Mountain Adaptive (RMA), which provides individuals with disabilities mountain sport and recreation opportunities.
“This grant will allow Rocky Mountain Adaptive to provide additional programming and help even more people with varying abilities experience downhill skiing in the Rockies,” said Michelle Parratt, assistant project manager and volunteer with RMA. “RMA is an organization very close to my heart and an amazing asset to my local community."
