Marie-Geneviève Nielsen Joins HDR as the Canada Utility Management Devices Lead
Marie-Geneviève (Gen) Nielsen is an accomplished leader in the water sector in Canada and has recently joined HDR as the Canada utility management devices lead.
Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Nielsen will provide utility management services to clients across Canada and the U.S. She brings a wealth of program development, asset management and condition assessment experience to help clients reach their vision to proactively manage their infrastructure.
“I am thrilled to be joining HDR and working with this amazing team to deliver quality work that meets our clients’ needs,” Nielsen said.
Nielsen joins us from the City of Ottawa, where she served in various capacities during her tenure. She established and operationalized the City’s large-diameter watermain, trunk sewer and forcemain condition assessment programs, developed business processes for project development, and led the development and delivery of the City’s first set of asset management plans. She has experience managing large engineering and operational groups in a regulatory and unionized environment.
“We are excited to have Gen join HDR,” said Brenda Ravenswaay, East region water director. “Her experience and passion will provide the help to utilities throughout Canada, allowing them to become more proactive in managing their assets.”
