Haltom City - City Hall
Haltom City - City Hall
An Improved Home for Civic Life
As one of the fastest-growing communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, Haltom City requires public services and facilities that can meet the needs of its expanding population and growing economic footprint. To better serve its residents, the idea of a new city hall was introduced as a centralized hub to bring together all necessary services under one roof. Blending functionality with a contemporary interpretation of Hill Country architectural style, Haltom City’s City Hall is a civic space that is both efficient and reflective of the region’s character and can be leveraged for economic development opportunities.
Designed for Functionality and Flexibility
The main priorities for the facility were straightforward yet thoughtful: functional, flexible and grounded in place. The atrium serves as a major organizational space, promoting easy wayfinding and acting as an overflow area for public meetings, while the council chambers double as a municipal court, with spaces for attorney-client consultations and jury deliberations. Flexible furniture arrangements accommodate large gatherings while material selection speaks to the character of the city and surrounding region, providing both residents and visitors with a strong connection to place.
Key features:
- A central stair seamlessly connects the lobby to services and administrative offices on the second floor
- The second-floor human resource conference room offers views of the lobby and highlights the atrium
- The pre-council meeting chamber serves as a flexible space that can also be used for council deliberations, jury deliberations and other training purposes
- Designated space in the facility can be used for public gatherings and community events
- Continued pedestrian paths behind the building connect to the nearby library and support foot traffic from the local public school
Strengthening Community
Beyond consolidating services for ease and efficiency, Haltom City’s City Hall serves as a central space where residents can get a firsthand perspective of city services and feel fully integrated in their community. Between town hall meetings and payment services, the building creates a welcoming and accessible environment that brings citizens and city officials together in a revitalized civic complex.
