A Vision for Terminal Transformation

To support booming activity from a significant local shale oil play, Flint Hills Resources purchased a portion of Naval Station Ingleside to convert into a terminal. HDR was selected to work side-by-side with Flint Hills through all engineering phases of the marine facilities — from conception to completion and start-up. 

Our approach transformed a lightly loaded, small craft pier into a terminal serving deep-draft oceangoing and shallow-draft intracoastal barges. Rapid delivery was a driving factor for Flint Hills, so our approach included the off-site fabrication of key structural elements.

Collaboration, teamwork and careful planning came together for safe project delivery four months ahead of schedule.
