2026 HDR Foundation Grants

This CA$5,000 grant to A Better Life Foundation will provide meal services with dignity for members of the community facing homelessness, housing issues and unemployment. Our employees will support the Plenty of Plates initiative and participate in the prepping, serving and clean-up of these meals.

This CA$5,000 grant to the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC will support the Youth Mental Health Art Exhibition series through purchasing art supplies such as canvases, paints, brushes, a kiln and pottery wheel for participants experiencing mental health challenges, disability, grief and social isolation. Our employees will support exhibition set-up and volunteer at gallery openings to foster a more inclusive, supportive community.

This CA$5,000 grant to Made by Momma will provide nourishment and care for newborns and postpartum mothers through funding two cooking events and two kit wrapping events. Our employees will prepare and cook meals that will be delivered to families in need and pack kits filled with essential items for newborns and recovering mothers.

This CA$4,992 grant to Stephen’s Backpacks for Children in Need Society will fund materials to fill 117 backpacks for elementary and middle school students in low-income areas, including backpacks specifically for the winter months filled with hats, gloves, socks and blankets. Our employee volunteers will assemble these backpacks and write notes of encouragement for the students receiving them.

This $9,500 grant to Access Period will provide essential period supply kits to 2,000 students across Omaha and Council Bluffs schools during the academic year. To address period poverty and get products to students in need, our employee volunteers will assemble the kits and assist with delivery to the partnered schools.

This $10,000 grant to The Ali Forney Center will launch the Healthy Futures Kit Initiative to provide wellness support and preventative care for youth experiencing homelessness in New York City. Our volunteers will assemble and distribute the wellness kits, take inventory of supplies and write personalized encouragement letters to youth receiving the kits.

This $9,975 grant to Alimentando Al Pueblo will fund 285 food boxes for the organization’s annual Back-to-School Bash, a free community event that helps more than 600 families meet basic nutritional needs and prepares children for a successful school year. Our employees will volunteer to distribute the culturally familiar food boxes, support family activities and connect with the community at the event.

This $9,000 grant to the Blanchet House of Hospitality will support the health and well-being of guests staying at Bethanie’s Room, the nonprofit's overnight shelter that serves up to 75 women and gender-expansive individuals who are vulnerable to gender-based violence. Employees will craft over 490 breakfasts and 490 lunches, with remaining funds used to provide three months’ worth of shelf-stable snacks for the shelter.

This $9,997 grant to Blessings in a Backpack will fund meals for food-insecure children during weekends and extended school breaks to provide them with more consistent food access outside of school hours. Our employees will organize a dedicated volunteer day to prepare, package and distribute meals.

This $6,154 grant to CASA Kane County will support the Activity Bags Initiative, serving children entering foster care due to abuse or neglect, often in abrupt situations. These activity bags, assembled by our employees, will include items such as small toys, sensory tools and personal care items to bring both practical support and emotional comfort to vulnerable youth.

This $10,000 grant to Centro De Salud Familiar La Fe will empower students at La Fe Preparatory School to achieve greater academic success by alleviating financial burdens through the backpack project. Assembled by our employees, 224 pre-K through fifth-grade students will receive a backpack filled with school supplies and a student uniform polo, enabling teachers and students to focus their time and energy on education.

This $9,950 grant to Chattanooga Area Food Bank will fund the Pack the Sack program, which provides children with bags of food to take home over the weekend to bridge the gap when school meals are unavailable. Our volunteers will participate in several packing and assembly events to provide hands-on community support.

This $6,840 grant to Chicago Adventure Therapy will encourage outdoor recreation and community belonging along the African American Heritage Water Trail. Funds will be used to purchase water safety gear, such as life jackets, swim caps and goggles, providing community members with more opportunities and better access to outdoor activities in an urban area. Our employees will assist the Chicago Adventure Therapy staff with sessions aimed to teach participants water safety basics and welcome their involvement with activities like paddling and swimming.

This $7,953 grant to Child Saving Institute will support children who arrive at the organization’s triage center, often having been removed from their home quickly and traumatically with minimal belongings following situations of neglect or abuse. Our volunteers will assemble clothing kits — each with a clean, full outfit — to help with the care and comfort of children experiencing these circumstances.

This $10,000 grant to Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship will support the expansion of the farm’s nature center and garden to address the lack of access to therapeutic green spaces for underserved veterans, youth and individuals with disabilities. Our employees will help plant native flowers and shrubs, build and maintain garden beds, create accessible pathways and support other seasonal restoration projects.

This $2,100 grant to The Foundation for Hospital Art will fund materials for a painting event at the National Jewish Health Morgridge Academy care facility, which provides a space for K-12 students to continue education during treatment for cancer or other diagnoses. Alongside the students, our employees will paint murals and provide a memorable moment of creativity and confidence, as well as improve the facility’s learning environment to promote healing and joy during periods of extended recovery.

This $9,941 grant to Foundation for Orange County Public Schools will install garden spaces and outdoor learning environments in six schools within the district, many of which are located in food deserts and low-income areas. Our volunteers will help construct the garden beds and demonstrate seed planting at the unveiling event, giving students a deeper level of education and appreciation for the environment.

This $7,071 grant to the Greater Newark Conservancy will improve the environmental sustainability of urban agriculture by reducing the carbon footprint and transitioning to the use of organic materials for seedling production. Our employees will help prepare 1,000 seedlings that will be distributed for fall planting and assist with the installation of seedling equipment and a new green roof for the chicken coop.

This $5,000 grant to Hope Austin will fund weekend meal kits for up to 1,000 students who might otherwise go hungry when school meals aren’t available. Our employees will assemble the weekend meal kits — each with two breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks — that will be discreetly distributed to students to eliminate the stigma associated with food assistance.

This $9,750 grant to House of Ruth will fund the purchase of garden beds, plants, paving materials, outdoor seating and other landscape improvements to provide its residents — who are rebuilding from cases of homelessness or abuse — a safe green space to enjoy. Our employees will assist with concept planning and outdoor space design, support purchasing lists for landscaping activities and take part in the installation of a nature oasis.

This $10,000 grant to I Have a Dream Foundation – Dallas will provide underserved youth with computers, a smart board, speakers and school supplies in support of Maple Lawn Elementary’s after-school program. Our employees will take part in the entire process — purchasing the needed technology, installing the equipment and teaching students how to use the new equipment.

This $10,000 grant to International WeLoveU Foundation will support the next phase of the Mom’s Garden Project, purchasing shrubs, native trees, mulch, garden supplies and other habitat enhancers to address a growing community need for green spaces. In a hands-on volunteer opportunity, our employees will participate in the full execution of planting and habitat installation to support environmental health and biodiversity within the community.

This $9,376 grant to the Mental Health Association of Essex & Morris will help replace furniture in the nonprofit’s Prospect House, a psychosocial rehabilitation program that hosts more than 100 adults living with serious, persistent mental illnesses. New furniture, installed by our employees, will include picnic tables for the cafeteria, sensory room tables and a coffee station cabinet to transform these communal spaces into a welcoming environment for recovery.

This $9,998 grant to Penelope House will provide comfort to women and children in need of safety and emergency shelter from situations of domestic violence. The grant will fund bedding, fans, towels, personal hygiene products, backpacks and more to better the comfort, health and hygiene of families at the emergency shelter. Our employees will hold a clothing drive during domestic violence awareness month in October to collect pajamas for Penelope House visitors, an item often forgotten about in clothing donations.

This $9,199 grant to Pennington County Search & Rescue will improve the safety of the Black Hills region, a popular tourist destination with attractions like Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Park. The grant will fund a thermal drone to assist search and rescue operations, making it more efficient to locate distressed visitors in hazardous terrain or poor conditions. Our employees will support a Pennington County Search and Rescue training exercise by being human subjects to test rescue operations.

This $9,200 grant to the Piedmont Down Syndrome Support Network will fund essential school supplies for school-aged children and adults with Down syndrome to provide financial relief as they enter the upcoming academic year and participate in educational, vocational and life-skill activities. Our employees will collect supplies like backpacks, folders, notebooks, writing supplies and more for these back-to-school kits, then help assemble and distribute them to families.

This $9,996 grant to Porchlight will fund the purchase and installation of a computer lab at its men’s shelter, providing technology access for job search and educational opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness. Our employees will set up the computer lab equipment and coordinate a volunteer event at the shelter.

This $5,000 grant to Project Mom Bags will provide care packages for new mothers and children in the cardiac intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit to bring them care and support through long, unexpected hospital stays after giving birth. Our employees will assemble, load and deliver these bags, filled with comfort items and self-care products, to local hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

This $10,000 grant to Richfield STEM PTO will help fund an outdoor classroom and garden-based STEM program at Richfield STEM Elementary by purchasing playground-safe mulch, benches, irrigation systems, signage and other supplies. Our employees will plant and assemble materials this fall and again in the spring to install multi-lingual signage, provided by our creative team.

This $10,000 grant to Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Charleston will fund materials for 20 bunk beds, including mattresses and bedding, for kids who do not have a comfortable place to lay their heads at night. Our employees will participate in a bed build day, where they will work with Sleep in Heavenly Peace volunteers to assemble the beds and deliver them to homes throughout the Charleston community.

This $1,385 grant to The Relatives will fund 50 essential clothing kits for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness and crisis situations. Employees will sort donated items, organize inventory and assemble the clothing kits to provide vulnerable youth with new, high-quality basics to support their hygiene, dignity and comfort.

This $5,909 grant to Therapeutic Riding of Tucson will improve the entry gate of the therapy facility for the safety of both those with disabilities and the horses in the adaptive riding program. Our employees will help with demolition and construction to transform the narrow, manual gate into a more secure, automated entrance to the property.

This $10,000 grant to Tree Trust will fund the purchase of trees to be planted in a local park to help address urban canopy loss and environmental health challenges in the area. Our employees will work alongside Tree Trust staff to plant 50 trees.

This $9,300 grant to West Elementary School will fund materials for a storage shed to be built by building trades students at Richard McKenna Charter School. The shed will provide storage for a fleet of bikes donated to West Elementary through an HDR Foundation grant to All Kids Bike in 2025. Our employees will mentor the building trades students as they finalize the shed plans; host lunch-and-learn sessions to connect students with career pathways in science, technology, engineering and math; and help deliver and install the storage shed at West Elementary.

This CA$7,761 grant will support Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, an organization dedicated to providing emergency veterinary care and rehabilitation to more than 2,000 injured and orphaned wild animals each year. This funding will be used for the purchasing and installation of species-appropriate brooder tubs to expand AIWC’s capacity to care for orphaned ducklings during peak intake season. Through better living conditions and faster rehabilitation, animal welfare outcomes and overall survival rates will be improved.

MineralsEd encourages and supports earth science, mineral resources and mining education in schools. This CA$6,065 grant will fund the necessary supplies and materials for 30 workshops that promote early engagement and literacy in science, technology, engineering and math, as well as foster awareness of natural resources. These workshops will reach around 750 students between grades 4-7 across British Columbia.

The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs that promote physical activity, community connection and equitable access for all children. This $9,900 grant will impact about 500 children and students in AYSO Region 248, where families are struggling with rising participation costs and volunteer coaches lack essential training tools. The grant will fund jerseys, first aid kits and soccer balls to ensure every child feels prepared, included and confident on the field.

The Black River Railroad Historical Trust is an organization of volunteers with a passion for railroading and local history. This $7,357 grant will be used to purchase and install HVAC equipment in the museum car, resulting in stable, year-round temperatures for both museum contents and visitors, enhancing their experience and engagement in railroad history.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, healthy and caring members of society. Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation is a public polytechnic research university with just under 8,000 students enrolled in one of 13 engineering disciplines. This $68,422 grant will support the BEYOND Engineering Classroom initiative, which will utilize mobile vans to connect with underserved K-12 students and cultivate an early interest in engineering. Each van will be equipped with tools such as 3D printers, laser scanners, drones and VR headsets — all vital for student-centered learning and community engagement.

The CLC Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with persistent disabilities and the development of innovative programs to support the needs of those served. This $29,100 grant will support the construction of additional shelters for therapy horses that the foundation uses as a unique, nature-based experience to grow connections between community members and the environment. With space for more horses, the program can expand opportunities beyond the 900 current participants, as well as families and caregivers.

Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy supports the creation and long-term success of Dix Park as a vital public space that fosters connection, creativity and well-being. With an increasing number of park visitors in this urban area, this $34,900 grant will fund the enhancement of natural surroundings through native planting materials such as shrubs, grasses and groundcovers. These materials will increase the park’s biodiversity and further environmental stewardship for all who visit.

Engineers in Action break the barriers that perpetuate poverty by ensuring safe access to water, sanitation, healthcare, education and more — all while developing the local capacity to sustain and expand that access for generations to come. This $34,864 grant will fund materials and equipment for two school water supply projects designed for long-term reliability in rural Eswatini. Each installation is paired with local training for school staff and community members to ensure sustained functionality over time.

Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools exists to support students, empower educators and strengthen schools through philanthropy. This $10,879 grant will fund industry-standard fabrication and biotechnology tools for the Science Focus Program in the school district. Approximately 100 students who attend this 9th through 12th curriculum annually will have the opportunity to use equipment like a 3D printer, laser cutting systems and gel electrophoresis systems to advance their skills and confidence in science and engineering problem solving.

Friends of the Children breaks generational cycles of poverty and trauma by empowering youth through relationships with professional mentors, improving their overall well-being beyond difficulties. This $14,477 grant will fund new desks, computers and educational resources for learning and literacy spaces so enrolled children can reach their fullest academic potential.

The Garden Foundation supports and enhances the lives of adults with disabilities by providing a place of education, inspiration, independence and inclusion. This $48,000 grant will fund the development of a dedicated sensory room and an adjacent learning space within the foundation’s new campus. These spaces will be integrated into daily programming as proactive support, ensuring that individuals with higher sensory needs can fully access opportunities that lead to greater independence.

Heartland Conservation Alliance works with partners to protect, connect and restore the Blue River watershed and its urban greenspaces for the benefit and enjoyment of all. This $35,000 grant will advance restoration and community engagement along the river by combining ecological improvements with hands-on environmental education and stewardship opportunities. The grant will fund additions such as kayaks and public address systems for river tours, educational and wayfinding signage, native plants and waterline installation.

Live by Living connects cancer survivors and caregivers with nature and one another by offering free activities like skiing, paddling, cycling and much more. This $30,008 grant will support essential equipment — such as poles, backpacks, skis, snowshoes, and medical and audio equipment — for hikes that range from walks on paved surfaces to multi-week hiking-based conditioning programs that help enable survivors to reduce anxiety, depression and fatigue.

Metro Blooms mission is to move toward environmental justice by partnering with communities to nurture and support thriving ecosystems. This $9,500 grant will provide environmental education programming for 50 to 70 youth and young adults across the diverse neighborhoods of south Minneapolis. These funds will go to landscaping supplies, mulch, plants and sustainable land care training kits for participants.

The National Quilt Museum honors today’s quilters and inspires future quilters with exceptional exhibitions, education and programming.  This $8,533 grant will drive an initiative to use quilting to teach geometry through the science, technology, engineering, arts and math curriculum, fostering innovative, sustainable education by combining art and math to inspire the next generation of learners.

Onward Industries supports creative growth and builds community outdoors through arts and science education in an area where there is a disconnect between the coastal environment that defines the region and students who live there. This $12,500 grant will fund equipment, materials and field-based learning tools that enable safe, hands-on coastal education at the nonprofit’s Catalina Island site. Greater engagement in this program will promote stewardship among a generation that is required to not only understand marine environments but feel a sense of responsibility to protect them.

Partnership 4 Hope empowers young adults transitioning from systems of care to build stable, fulfilling lives through mentorship, education and a supportive network that fosters connection and belonging. This $7,800 grant will support the Launchpad Home Project by providing household essentials such as a washer and dryer unit and a freezer chest so these young adults can learn practical life skills and build stability in their lives. 

Pope's Place provides individualized care for children and young adults with exceptional medical needs to strengthen themselves, their families and the community. This $70,000 grant will allow for greater belonging for people of all abilities by funding adaptive playground equipment tailored to those served. Items such as a wheelchair accessible glider and outdoor sensory toys will not only support inclusive play but also essential rehabilitation goals.

The Rocky Mountain Field Institute actively engages thousands of community volunteers every year through the completion of trail and restoration projects that help conserve and protect treasured public landscapes. With Pikes Peak being the most visited mountain in the U.S. with nearly 600,000 visitors each year, a $5,300 grant will benefit the Devil's Playground Trail, an area in poor condition that receives no annual maintenance. Funding will be used for tools and equipment to aid the work crew and volunteers in maintaining this trail and protecting the ecosystem.

Skiku is a statewide program that promotes cross-country skiing and wellness benefits through the development of local ski programs. Skiing is an incredibly healthy, challenging and sustainable sport that invites people to appreciate their natural environment. This $52,667 grant will be used to purchase trail grooming decks that make skiing in rural villages more accessible and enjoyable, especially for older adults and children who may lack the motor skills to ski on rough trails.

Veterans Community Project is an organization — built by veterans, for veterans — that believes in restoring dignity to those who served through providing thoughtfully built homes designed with veteran needs in mind. This $75,000 grant will increase the outreach of the Veterans Community Project through a mobile outreach van that will expand the impact on surrounding rural areas of the Greater Sioux Falls region by meeting individuals experiencing homelessness where they are.

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado engages thousands of people every year to provide a volunteer workforce for recreation and habitat improvement projects that take place in every corner of Colorado. This $11,397 grant will help to remodel the organization’s operations center kitchen and food storage area, which is the hub for all food and meals going out for conservation projects across Colorado.

The Wild Way strives to provide expedition-based, outdoor experiences for girls to build confidence, resilience, and curiosity. Hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, caving and horseback riding are just a few examples of activities The Wild Way provides. This $8,346 grant will provide equipment and supplies, including a trailer, life jackets and first aid kits to be used for a stand-up paddleboarding camp that will continue to facilitate new experiences for girls.
