Integrated Project Delivery Benefits Multi-Use Project

Integrated project delivery, an alternative design process where parties (architects, contractors, and consultants) sign one contract and work together from the onset of a project, is being used for the East Vancouver Integrated Health and Social Housing Project.

The primary benefit of IPD is advanced collaboration, “with everyone working toward shared goals, the focus is really on maximizing the value to the owner and delivering the absolute best building for their budget," said Justin Perdue, principal, education and science.

HDR is working in Canada with BC Housing, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the City of Vancouver on the project that once complete will bring affordable rental units, an addictions management and counseling clinic, and a City of Vancouver-owned social enterprise space designed with and for urban Indigenous residents. The project is expected to start construction in 2023 and open in 2025.
