With its visually captivating façade and optimized laboratory layout, Mayo Clinic’s Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Building is reimagining the possibilities of research from the inside out. In an interview with The Architect’s Newspaper, HDR’s Scott Elofson and Greg Ramseth dish on design strategy that improves workflows and processes for researchers and clinicians, and demystify the striking façade’s illuminating features — from energy-efficiency and optimized lighting to offering both privacy and transparency. They also explain how this research building is “signaling Mayo Clinic’s commitment to and place in the future of research.”
