The Regenerative Design Framework and Its Implications on Community Mental Health and Resiliency

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 40% of Americans are struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues since the outset of the pandemic. This has brought community mental health to the forefront of the resiliency conversation. On an AIA Seattle webinar, Anosha Zanjani, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Arch, behavioral health design specialist at HDR, recently presented how expanding beyond sustainability toward a focus on regenerative design can impact community mental health and wellness. Through HDR's Health & Wellness Tool and Social Equity Toolkit, quantification of key performance indicators can result in projects that have a more "whole-community" approach.
