Alex Sperfeld Tapped to Lead Specification Management

Alex Sperfeld, CCS/CDT, RA, LEED AP BD+C, has joined HDR as a national specifications manager. Located in our Chicago architecture studio, Sperfeld leads the development and maintenance of specifications, working with teams to align products, design delivery and sustainable practices. 

In this position, Sperfeld puts his passion for educating teams on the importance of specifications to practice.

“I’m excited to work with the various groups within HDR to further the quality of our construction documents and, in return, the quality of our designs and the service to our clients,” Sperfeld said. 

Sperfeld brings over 20 years of experience working in the industry to his role and prides himself on his extensive technical knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to lead and coordinate teams. Most recently, he worked as a specifications team leader at Cannon Design. 

“I am excited to have Alex back at HDR,” said HDR's Director of Technical Architecture Donovan Wattier.“ Although in a different role, Alex’s knowledge and experience will continue to provide the expertise that architecture expects from our specifications group. He will bring rigor and thoroughness to all the work that he performs.”

Sperfeld, a licensed architect in Illinois and California, holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
