Kutil Awarded AWWA’s Vernon Lucy Award

Nathan Kutil

HDR’s Nathan Kutil has won this year’s American Water Works Association Vernon Lucy Award, presented by the Chair and Trustees of the Engineering & Construction Division. Kutil is a project manager based in Missoula, Montana.

The Vernon Lucy Award recognizes a committee member, committee chair or recent Division trustee or chair for their sustained service, contributions or demonstrated creativity, initiative and dedication to the work of the Division.

Kutil has served as a distinguished volunteer in the water industry for over 17 years. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation, the Northwest Membrane Operator Association and AWWA where he chaired the Membrane Systems Subcommittee as part of the Engineering & Construction Division. During his three-year tenure as Chair, Kutil increased membership from 10 to 22 members.

His award nomination states, “It was hard work done through heavy, organic recruiting and direct, one-on-one conversations with potential volunteers. The result was an active growth of the committee, with fully engaged members that contributed and developed several initiatives in the past three years.”

Kutil graduated from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in 2005 and has spent most of his career working on industrial and municipal water projects in Montana. He's a licensed professional engineer and a certified construction documents technologist.
