HDR Sells Its Germany Operations to Employees

Architecture Group Renamed Telluride

After a decade of focusing on architectural science and research design in Germany, HDR is selling its subsidiary HDR GmbH to a small group of employees in the country. The new operating company will be known as Telluride Architektur GmbH.

“The hard work and dedication of our staff have delivered some amazing and enduring projects,” said HDR Chairman and CEO Eric Keen. “After much careful deliberation, we have reached the conclusion that this is the best path forward for our employees, clients and communities.”

Selling HDR GmbH to the new owners and partners allows the new company to be a German employee-owned organization. The company’s 150 employees in Germany work primarily out of the offices in Dusseldorf, Munich and Berlin.

A small group of employees based in Frankfurt will remain with HDR and continue work on contracts related to a major military hospital and commissioning services.

In 2013, HDR expanded its services internationally with the acquisition of German firm TMK Architekten Ingenieure, which later became HDR GmbH. Johannes Kresimon, one of the new buyers and the firm’s health director, said the stock purchase and transfer to new ownership benefits both HDR and Telluride. “We have enjoyed a long and successful relationship with HDR,” Kresimon said, “and the mutual respect will continue as we look for opportunities to work together.”
