HDR Names Tommy Montgomery Transportation Business Development Leader for Alabama and Georgia
Tommy Montgomery, P.E., has joined HDR as transportation business development leader for Alabama and Georgia. Drawing on 35 years of transportation experience, he will lead client development and growth strategies as the two states continue investing in major mobility and infrastructure programs.
In this role, Montgomery will strengthen client and industry relationships, guide strategic pursuits, and connect HDR’s multidisciplinary expertise with evolving infrastructure priorities across Georgia and Alabama.
“Georgia and Alabama are making significant investments in mobility, safety and economic growth,” Montgomery said. “I’m excited to connect HDR’s local knowledge and national technical expertise to help clients move complex transportation projects forward.”
Montgomery brings decades of transportation infrastructure experience in Georgia, including extensive leadership in project management, design, procurement, and construction for major Georgia Department of Transportation projects. His work includes serving both the owner and contractor sides of alternative delivery, giving him a broad perspective on successful project development and delivery.
His work includes serving as Post-Let General Engineering Consultant project manager for the I-85 Widening Design-Build project through design and construction. He has also been responsible for delivering design-build projects in Georgia and across the Southeast. One notable example is the Jimmy DeLoach Connector near the Port of Savannah, a new roadway and bridge project that required significant environmental and right of way coordination. He has also led pursuits for large, complex transportation projects across the Southeast.
“Tommy understands how owners, designers and contractors approach complex transportation programs,” said HDR Southeast Region Transportation Director David Kinard. “That perspective, combined with his longstanding knowledge of the Georgia market, will help our teams anticipate client needs and build successful strategies and solutions for projects across Georgia and Alabama.”
