Operations and Maintenance Facilities Director
For more than 30 years, Ed has been a trusted leader in functional facility design, partnering with U.S. transit agencies and municipalities to plan, program and design operations and maintenance (O&M) facilities that support growing fleet and service needs. As our operations and maintenance facility design director, he guides teams in planning and designing safe, efficient and modern facilities and helps to deliver large-scale, complex projects and programs.
Ed’s work includes transit, municipal, utility, airport and federal facility projects, such as battery electric bus maintenance facilities, public works campuses, master planning, cost estimating and multiphase design programs. He has helped shape major transit programs nationwide through his leadership and technical vision. Notable projects include Charlotte CATS, where he supported the evaluation of more than 100 potential sites for a commuter rail vehicle maintenance facility and led development of test fit concepts to narrow options. While working on CapMetro’s Project Connect in Austin, Ed led concept design for a large bus maintenance facility and spearheaded refinement of HDR’s Bus Facility Calculator to support capital planning decisions. He has also held key design roles on the O&M facility for Lowcountry Rapid Transit and multiple upgrades for Denver’s RTD facilities, including electric bus charging accommodations and charging stations design.
Known for his proactive and performance-driven approach, Ed helps clients navigate complex technical, operational, schedule and budget challenges from planning through design. He is an active member of the Transportation Association of South Carolina and a regular attendee of APTA.
