Rashed Islam, P.E., PTOE, ENV SP

Central Region Transportation Director

“We don’t want to just do projects. We want to contribute to building communities where we live, work and play and continue to improve quality of life for the citizens.”

As a regional transportation director, Rashed coordinates our transportation work in the central U.S., involving every transportation sector we provide services in: highways and roads, transit, aviation, ports and maritime, freight rail, and federal transport.

A nearly 30-year veteran in the transportation industry, Rashed is responsible for strategic leadership, business development and management of key transportation initiatives. Based in Austin, Texas, he oversees the delivery of our projects throughout the region as well as development of staff and the continued expansion and application of full life cycle services. His experience and perspective help clients adapt to new technology, prepare for the future and move community-changing projects from idea to reality.

Rashed’s leadership has been evident in the hundreds of projects he has completed in his career for many public and private clients, including the first continuous flow intersection in central Texas and his 20-year involvement in the award-winning 712-acre Robert Mueller Municipal Airport Redevelopment project.

He's actively involved in the community with many nonprofit organizations that are working to improve quality of life for Central Texans. He serves on the boards of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Austin and Austin Parks Foundation. Most recently Rashed was selected to serve on the Austin Area Research Organization, an organization working to enhance the economic and social well-being of Central Texas.

In 2017, Rashed was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni of the Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Austin for his contributions to the transportation industry and to the university.
