For nearly 25 years, including more than 20 here at HDR, Sloan has been partnering with senior leadership to identify, attract, evaluate and select talented professionals for strategic architectural and engineering positions. She is known for having an eye for talent, a deep understanding of recruiting for complex and critical roles and the ability to build influential relationships.
Much of her day is spent networking to identify top level talent in the architecture/engineering industry. She was attracted to recruiting because she understands its importance in helping drive business — and because every day brings a new challenge. Her career, she acknowledges, has afforded her the ability to influence and change people’s lives as well as directly affect the success of our firm. And she appreciates the rewards that come from being able to understand someone’s motivations, help them through the process of change and then matching them to a particular role where they can have great success.
In fact, Sloan says, when employees she recruits are wildly successful is what she counts as her most successful professional accomplishment. Seeing their names tied to significant project wins gives her great joy. “It’s a pretty cool feeling knowing you have helped someone advance their career,” she notes.
