A Look at 4 HDR Envision-Rated Waste Projects

Omaha RiverFront - Gene Leahy Mall

Waste sustainability is increasingly top-of-mind for our community and developer clients. The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision framework is one way to measure project sustainability, taking a comprehensive view of projects and bringing in 64 sustainability and resilience indicators, including some related to waste and materials.

In this article for the American Public Works Association, four HDR Envision-rated projects are featured through a solid waste lens, including the Omaha RiverFront Revitalization, 27th Avenue Compost Facility, Holland Energy Park and Surry Biofuel Facility.

“From a sustainability perspective and as a member of the Omaha community, it was inspiring to see the extent of salvage, reuse and repurposing, especially for elements that are important to the community culture,” said Jennifer Ninete, senior sustainability consultant at HDR, about the Omaha RiverFront Revitalization project.
