HDR's Lisa Larson presents the Pamela E. Klatt Annual Award to Mark Jones.

HDR’s Mark Jones, P.E., is the 2023 recipient of Northwest Hydroelectric Association’s Pamela E. Klatt Annual Award. Jones, a senior hydropower management consultant in Portland, Oregon, accepted the honor at the Northwest Hydroelectric Association Conference on Feb. 22.

Established in 2009, the Pamela E. Klatt Annual Award recognizes recipients for their lasting contributions to the Northwest hydroelectric industry through leadership and service.

Jones has more than 35 years of experience in hydropower — more than five with HDR — and is a strong industry advocate. In addition to past roles at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Bonneville Power Administration, Mark founded the Hydropower Operators Forum, an industry think tank, and is serving his second term on the Northwest Hydroelectric Association Board of Directors. He also worked on the development and provides ongoing support for the National Hydropower Association’s Operational Excellence Program.

“Mark listens to everyone in the room,” his nomination states. “He knows that quietest person in the room may have the next big idea. Many in the industry have been positively impacted by Mark’s integrity and approach to working with others.”

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Portland and is a licensed professional engineer.
