HDR’s Tippey Selected as AWWA Vice President

Brent Tippey, P.E., was recently selected as a Vice President for the American Water Works Association. Tippey was selected by other members of the AWWA board of directors and will begin his term in June at the conclusion of AWWA’s Annual Conference & Exposition.

“This is a deserved recognition,” said Jim Pembroke, HDR’s drinking water client development director. “Brent is the epitome of a water professional, engaging in all aspects of the industry for the benefit of the industry.”

Tippey is a principal project manager and licensed professional engineer. With 30 years in the industry, he has successfully managed or technically led close to $1 billion in capital improvements projects, including nearly 50 different water treatment facilities and transmission infrastructure projects in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas. 

Tippey has served as a distinguished volunteer in the drinking water industry for nearly 20 years, including section officer (trustee, vice-chair, chair-elect, chair from 2011-2015 and presently serves as director); Water Professionals Leadership Academy mentor and founding sponsor since the program’s initiation in 2016; and currently serves as National Chair of AWWA’s Water Treatment Facilities Design & Construction Committee.

Additionally, Tippey is a regular presenter at both section and national AWWA conferences having prepared and delivered more than 20 presentations on a wide variety of projects and topics. Outside of AWWA, he participates in Kentucky’s Drinking Water Advisory Council and serves on the University of Kentucky’s Engineering Alumni Advisory Board.
