Sandy Tkacz Named HDR U.S. Health Director, Architecture
Sandy Tkacz, FACHA, AIA, NCARB, has been promoted to health director of HDR’s architecture practice in the United States. In this role, Tkacz will lead HDR's U.S. health design group to drive client engagement, operational performance, talent and business development.
Tkacz brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare planning, design, business development and practice leadership to her new role. A recognized healthcare planner and designer, Tkacz’s portfolio includes transformational projects for leading academic medical centers, community hospitals, rehabilitation and pediatric facilities, and ambulatory care networks.
“Throughout her career, Sandy has helped healthcare organizations envision and deliver transformative facilities and campuses that respond to the changing needs of the communities they serve,” said Jacqueline Foy, NCARB, AIA, LSSYB, ACHA, LEED AP, global director of health at HDR. “A respected leader across our industry and within HDR, Sandy brings the vision, experience and understanding of healthcare’s future to lead the continued growth and success of HDR’s health practice across the U.S.”
Since joining HDR in 2013, Tkacz has held several key leadership roles, including U.S. West region health director, health principal and, most recently, U.S. East region health director. In these positions, she has led health design strategy, client development, strategic planning, business development and recruiting efforts to help grow and strengthen HDR’s health practice.
"Healthcare has been at the center of my architecture career for more than 30 years, and I am always inspired by the impact of HDR’s design work,” Tkacz said. “I am honored to take on the role of U.S. health director and excited to work with talented health leaders and teams across the country as we continue our unprecedented growth and shape the future of healthcare through design and innovation.”
In 2025, Tkacz was elevated to Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Architects (FACHA), a professional distinction that recognizes her outstanding contributions to healthcare planning and design, professional leadership, research, education and mentorship.
