NEXUS Gas Transmission Line

Natural Gas Pipeline Helps Utilities Meet Growing Demand for Cleaner Power Generation

Spanning 256 miles through northern Ohio and southeastern Michigan, the Nexus Gas Transmission project delivers up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas to utilities and consumers. The 36-inch natural gas pipeline connects with several smaller lateral pipelines, and includes installation of four new gas turbine compression stations totaling 72,000 horsepower. Together, the network expands access to natural gas across the region to meet growing demand for cleaner power generation.

As part of Fluor’s EPCM team, we took on the role of owner’s engineer serving as a liaison between the environmental and engineering teams leading the project, and supporting the FERC licensing pre-filing and filing process. To lead environmental inspection services, we mobilized 23 full-time environmental field staff during construction and conducted environmental training for all contractor personnel. When the project wrapped up, we facilitated post-construction and restoration monitoring for the project footprint to address project-specific mitigation requirements and regulatory standards.
