Scripps Health is expanding its reach with two transformative healthcare campuses in Southern California: a new ground-up medical campus in San Marcos and a major expansion of the existing La Jolla campus. These projects reflect Scripps’ commitment to delivering state-of-the-art care with a compassionate, community-centered approach. Designed to be highly visible, accessible and welcoming, both campuses aim to meet growing regional demand while reinforcing the Scripps brand as a leader in patient-focused healthcare.

Design that Balances Progress, Place and Experience

Our design strategy emphasizes connectivity — between buildings, communities and care experiences. In San Marcos, the new hospital and medical office building are planned with open space, pedestrian access and integration with nearby mixed-use developments and Cal State San Marcos. The La Jolla campus builds upon an established architectural language, incorporating glass curtain walls and metal panels alongside traditional brick to convey stability and legacy. Across both sites, the planning prioritizes patient comfort, staff efficiency and long-term adaptability, with thoughtful zoning, intuitive circulation and resilient infrastructure. 

Two Health Campuses, One Vision

Though distinct in context, both campuses share a unified design philosophy. Each reflects Scripps’ dual identity: cutting-edge medical expertise paired with a warm, nurturing environment. San Marcos introduces Scripps to a fast-growing, vibrant community, while La Jolla consolidates and modernizes services by replacing aging facilities. 

Together, these projects represent a cohesive vision for healthcare that is both innovative and deeply human. By expanding access, enhancing visibility and creating spaces that foster healing and connection, Scripps Health is setting a new benchmark for compassionate care.
