HDR Expertise in Fast-Growing Carolinas Featured in ENR
With a fast-growing population and new federal funding, the Carolinas are experiencing a surge of infrastructure growth and project planning. David Kinard, HDR’s southeast region transportation director, recently shared insights on the busy states with Engineering News-Record.
With multiple major interstate projects, transit efforts, port and rail improvements and more, North and South Carolina are already making large investments in infrastructure and are planning more.
“Agencies and industry leaders have identified and developed plans for hundreds of projects across the Carolinas in almost all building and infrastructure markets,” Kinard told the magazine.
HDR’s deep experience with transportation projects in the Carolinas includes some of the major projects in the region, including:
- Construction management for the Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal, the first new permitted container port in the past decade.
- Design of the I-40 Business reconstruction through the heart of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, including the unique Green Street Pedestrian Bridge.
- Multiple environmental, engineering and support services for the Carolina Crossroads interstate effort, South Carolina’s top interstate priority.
